TS-033 / Dead Low Tide Dead Low Tide

Late in 2001, in a misty, musty horse stable nestled in the jagged snow-topped peaks of the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State, Dead Low Tide was born. Dead Low Tide brought together the talent and charisma of X Murder City Devils — Spencer Moody (vox,) Nate Manny (guitar,), and Coady Willis (drums) — and combined the ferocity and low-end almighty of Mike Kunka of godheadSilo/Enemymine. The unlikely marriage of Kunka’s eight-string bass bombast and the trio of ex-Devils birthed a unique, unrivaled experiment in musical intensity. Recorded by Phil Ek, famous for previous work at the helm of such ships as Built To Spill, Pretty Girls Make Graves, Unwound, and Modest Mouse, this is sadly the first and last full length release from a vastly overlooked band.

Anecdotes

This record literally fell into our lap and we didn’t let it go. Spencer Moody’s girlfriend tipped us off that Spencer along with a bunch of other studs from Murder City Devils had a new band called Dead Low Tide. When we heard the record we knew this was one that T-Style had to release. Ari traveled to the Northwest for a couple of DLT shows including a few gigs with the Melvins. Seattle LOVED the Tide as did we. The band disbanded shortly after the recording of the album and never properly toured to support it. We think the band would’ve topped Murder City Devils’ success if they were able to keep together.
