The Letter E were a four piece, instrumental band featuring Sean Meadows (June of 44, Sonora Pine, Lungfish), Josh Matthews (Blue Man Group) and Curtis Harvey (Rex, Pullman and Curtis Harvey Trio). This EP contains 4 beautiful tracks reminiscent of Tristeza or a more rootsy version of Mogwai, as well as the musicians’ respective projects. All tracks recorded at Brooklyn Illharmonic in December, 1997.

Anecdotes

Mike Galinsky introduced us to The Letter E and they were the first band to release a proper record on Tiger Style. We were huge fans of Curtis Harvey and Sean Meadows and were equally impressed with the beauty of their instrumental recordings of The Letter E. When Sean told us he bought a motorcycle with his first June of 44 royalty check, we had a secret desire of topping that with the first full-length Letter E album. Unfortunately, the band never really toured much and were preoccupied with their other jobs (drummer Josh Matthews was in Blue Man Group) and our dream of buying Sean a Ferrari with the first royalty check was shattered.
